Netaudio Berlin

netaudio.berlin has become involved in a wide range of activities within the internet music sector as a reaction to issues that have emerged in new distribution channels and the resulting change in consumer behaviour. We are organising festivals, workshops, dissertations and performances, linking the international netaudio scene and helping music which is extensively free from application interests find its earpieces and enthusiasts. We want music to come home – back to passion and artistic expression. We advocate that artists have full control over the rights of their creation therefore our artists and publications are only licensed under Creative Commons – an organization with which we also are in close cooperation. To establish a structure, we recently founded the association “netaudio e.V.”, to act as a lobby for netlabels and their linked netaudio artists.

netaudio.berlin organises the netaudio.festival in Berlin. Here artists, netlabel users, internet radios, CC activists, promoters of open licenses and people from related networks have come together to exchange information about the state and prospective developments within the independent music scene. For a couple of days, we create a program with numerous workshops and lectures, audio-visual performances and, of course, a lot of music! These vary from sound installations and the musical creation of communicative spaces through to electronic club tunes. At the Berlin.2007 event, 55 artists of 26 netlabels from 5 European countries participated.

The people involved have also initiated their own activities within the netaudio universe. The individual aspects of our work keeps us busy with numerous netlabels (Pentagonik, Pulsar Rec., id.ology, etc.); venue management (RAW.tempel); the staging of single events; label nights, open air festivals (Sonnenwind); related events (min2, netlag etc.) and also serving coffee, snacks and free music in the worlds first netaudio café.
