Bombstream Performance

Bomb Shop is a forward thinking independent label based in London. We’ve been bringing new music to your ears for the last ten years, in a rather random and disorganised fashion, so we reckoned it was about time we got organised, thought of a name, got ourselves a side-parting and officially start our project.

Bombstream involves reverse engineering the nature of transmission. Noisemakers worldwide can stream audio to the Bombstream site (www.bombshop.org/stream). These individual streams are then mixed by the Bombshop crew, operating as an ensemble, and re-broadcast to the site. The traditional shape of a radio broadcast is therefore reversed and extended – rather than a solitary source dispersing to many points, many sources funnel into a solitary destination before dispersing in the normal way. The end result becomes a cycle – contributors using our web-based interface will also be listening to the broadcast, and creative feedback is a key positive to the model. Rather than a one way stream, radio here becomes a social and creatively engaging format.
